The City of Stillwater has been awarded a $50,000 Metropolitan Grant as part of the Council’s 2026-2028 Water Efficiency Grant Program. Stillwater is one of many cities in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area that applied for and was accepted into this grant program.  This program runs from July 13, 2026 - June 30, 2028.

Grant funds will be used for the City’s water conservation program. The City is offering rebates to Stillwater properties that are connected to the City Water Supply System that replace their washing machines, toilets, or irrigation controllers with a smart irrigation controller.

Rebates are for the replacement of existing devices only. New construction and new developments are not eligible.

Rebate categories and amounts are as follows:

  • Clothes Washers – Rebate up to $200 or 80% of the cost of a new US DOE Energy Star® labeled (Energy Guide doesn't qualify) clothes washer, whichever is less (excluding sales tax and labor/installation costs).

Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed. The program runs from July 13, 2026 - June 30, 2028.  Rebates are only eligible for approved devices and must be purchased between 7/13/2026 and 6/30/2028. Applications received after June 30, 2028 will not be accepted.

A copy of the receipt (must include date of purchase, location of purchase, the make and model of the device, and purchase price) for a qualifying device must be provided with the rebate application form. The rebate request form and all supplemental information must be submitted to the City of Stillwater by mail or online. It is the customer’s responsibility to verify if funds are still available or not.  The rebate is for the cost of the device only and excludes sales tax and any installation/labor costs.  New construction and new developments are ineligible.
